Ritter/Zamet is proud to present New York-based artist Nick Darmstaedter’s first solo exhibition in London, titled Bells and Whistles Can of Worms.

Nick Darmstaedter’s sculptures and canvases combine a distinctive Pop-Americana with a raw reboot of post-minimal process. With an initial emphasis on the physical properties of materials and the manner of gathering, sorting and applying them, Darmstaedter then infiltrates the concepts of chance, transience and difference with a subjectivity and personal sensitivity that is entirely unique.

Using some of the most base, overlooked and disregarded materials that he can get his hands on from pennies, manhole covers, building materials and glossy magazines to locally sourced food, Darmstaedter reconstructs, reconfigures and regenerates – giving these objects a whole new resonance, beauty and poetry.

Nick Darmstaedter was born in 1988 in Los Angeles and now lives and works in New York. He attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City. He is a member of the Still House Group based in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
